Crochet Vlogcast Episode 32

Lululoves Crochet Podcast | Episode 32

Hello! I hope you are keeping well? I have finally filmed a new episode of my crochet podcast… which includes a fabulous giveaway! Life is moving forward, Autumn is definitely In the air and we are getting used to the ‘new normal’ although ever hopeful that soon we will be able to see and hug whoever we want when we want! With the children back at school I have been able to move forward on some of my projects. Here’s what I’ve been up to this last month…

Thank you so much if you have been watching and supporting by way of likes and shares. It really means so much to me and as we have now reached over 5k subscribers over on YouTube, by way of thanks, I have organised a lovely giveaway to accompany episode 32. Alan from BowlTech Crochet Hooks has very kindly donated one of his hand-turned resin glitter hooks for me to giveaway to one subscriber. These hooks have been a favourite of mine for a while and always go down well when I show them on the vlogcasts. This gorgeous hook is 5mm hand-turned in England by Alan and is made from local walnut. To enter all you need to do is be subscribed to my YouTube channel and leave a comment telling me what you’re favourite hook size is.

I’m also sharing a lovely feature that the blog had in issue 100 of Simply Crochet. Such a lovely interview and write up by fellow crochet designer Hannah Cross. I’ve actually followed Hannah for a while now over on Instagram so it was so lovely to be interviewed by her.

Finished Objects:

Daisy Square Beach Bag

I finally finished my Daisy Square beach bag/tote. I have really enjoyed this over the summer months. It’s such a simple project made from two 3x3 motif square pieces, joined along three sides. I then added a few rows of double (US single) crochet and a really simple handle.

If you’d like to have a go the free written pattern can be found here on my blog and the video tutorial (which includes instructions for the join as you go method) can be found here on my YouTube channel.

I started the Paintbox Yarns Make-Along with @TheQueenStitch to make her gorgeous Datura Bloom top. If you pop over to @Paintboxyarns on Instagram you can see tutorial videos in their highlights or have a look at the #DaturaBloomMal to see all the lovely makes. The free pdf pattern is available for download here on LoveCrafts. I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Make Along (I’m still on week 1 ;0) – I don’t think I’ve ever achieved that, but I am determined to finish my top!

I am so happy to be working with Skillshare this month who have very kindly sponsored this episode of the podcast.

This month I have been trying out Resin Jewelry Classes. Resin craft has been on my list of crafts to try for so long so I’m really happy to finally have a reason to give it a go.

The classes I took were:

Alcohol Ink and Resin Pour Jewelry by Kellie Chase

Fashionable Resin Jewelry for Beginners by Kellie Chase

Floral Resin Jewelry Basics by Sarah Trafford.

I’m sharing my results and experiences over on the Vlogcast if you’d like to hear more (there is also a link in the description for a free trial of Skillshare in the video description!).

As promised I’ve linked all the materials I purchased via Amazon:

Resin Kit

Moon Silicone Mould set

Resin Jewelry Mould set

Dried Flower Packs

Small Dried Flowers

And because I am super pleased with how they turned out, here are lots of pretty pics for you:

I’m so happy with them, I can’t wait to try more.

This month's books and TV chat:

The Glass House by Eve Chase

The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

I’m thinking of Ending Things – Neflix. Based on the Book by Ian Read and directed by Charlie Kaufman famous for Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, if you liked these then you may enjoy this one. It’s definitely a ‘thinker’ with themes or mortality, ageing, dementia, loneliness  – I’m still not sure if I enjoyed it or not! Here’s the trailer if you’re intriqued!

However, I am very excited as Neflix have released the trailer for their adaptation of Rebecca one of my all-time favourite books, due to be released in October! I’ve linked it here if you fancy a watch. I am also looking forward to the film Enola based on the Nancy Springer books which follows Sherlock Holmes’ sister (played by Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame) - out at the end of September.

Anyway, I think that’s all for me for now. If you want more details of anything mentioned pop over and watch episode 32 here on YouTube.

Stay safe, bye for now. Em xx
