Crochet Vlogcast Episode 31

Lulu Loves Crochet Vlog | Episode 31

Hello! I’m finally back with another episode of the crochet Vlogcast. It’s been a busy month here despite the lockdown…

We’ve celebrated three lockdown birthdays and an anniversary so far and Lulu has finished primary school this month! I feel like I’m still in shock, I really don’t know where those eleven years have gone.

I’m also really proud to say that episode 31 of the Lulu Loves Crochet Podcast has been sponsored! I have been working with Skillshare this month and I’m excited to share some of the classes I’ve been taking. So without further waffle I will get on with the show notes…

Finished Items:

The only finished item this week are headbands, lots of lacy headbands! You can find the free pattern for my crochet headband here on the blog or watch the video tutorial here. I’ve made them for both the girls and myself and we all really love wearing them.

Works in Progress (WIPS):

Daisy Beach Bag

Inspired by all the wild daisies here I started playing around with a crochet daisy motif. I’ve turned them into squares and am making a large bag for picnic blankets / beach days. The yarn I’m using is Yarn and Colours Epic Cotton (aran weight). I’m also making a smaller version for Lulu.

Beaded Jar Cover

I started this beautiful beaded jar cover designed by Clare Trowbridge for issue 126 of Inside Crochet. I’m using a 2mm crochet hook and some Rico Essentials Cotton thread in the shade Beige (02). I’m planning to finish it with some crafting pearl beads I have.

Wool and the Gang Knitted Clutch.

This is one of the classes I’ve tried this month courtesy of Skillshare. I’m using some of the leftover recycled t-shirt yarn from Paintbox and 10mm knitting needles. I’ve learnt the cable cast on which I love and I’ve been able to practice my basic stiches. I’ve linked the class here If you’d like to have a look. I now have my eye on some macramé classes!

Skillshare have also offered the first 1000 of my subscribers 2 free months of skillshare premium by using the following link: https://skl.sh/lululovescrochet

So far I’ve been enjoying the following classes:

What's New in Knitting: Make Your Own Clutch | Learn with Wool and the Gang - Charlotte Hintzen

Learn to Use Canva: The Easy, Effective Design Solution for Non-Designers - Lisa Larson-Kelley

iPhone Photography: How to Take Pro Photos on your iPhone - Dale McManus

Low-Light Photography: Settings and Tips to Capture the Dark - Maria Jose Govea

Pricing Your Work: How to Value Your Work as a Freelancer - Peggy Dean

New Items:

I was lucky enough to win a giveaway over on Instagram and have won the most beautiful set of mini skeins from Pigment and Ply. You can find their gorgeous hand-dyed yarns over on their website here or over on Instagram here. I cant wait to add these to my mini skein blanket

And finally I treated myself a very special crochet hook from Bowltech Crochet Hooks over on Facebook. This one is a hand turned walnut hook with a glitter resin centre. I don’t think I’ve ever been so in love with a crochet hook! Have a look at Allan’s facebook shop for more of his gorgeous hooks, he makes most hooks to order and each one I own is just stunning.

Lulu Loves Crochet Vlog | Episode 31

I've been reading The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This one follows the journey of a young man called Hiram from the plantation in Virginia where he has been enslaved since birth on his quest for freedom and the search for his family. Hiram possess some spirital gifts that become apparent when he finds himself in danger. I'm not yet half way through but I am really enjoying it.

I've just finished binge watching 'The Secrets She Keeps' which is currently on TV - although all episodes are available on BBC iPlayer. Starring Laura Carmichel (Lady Edith from Downton Abbey!) and Jessica De Gouw, the story follows two pregnant women, one of whom has her baby abducted from the hospital the same day she gives birth. Slowly the secrets both women have been keeping a revealed. Its gripping, emotional and dark - I've actually read since that the series was based on a true story! I definitley recommend giving it a watch.

You can watch episode 31 of the Lulu Loves Crochet Vlogcast here.

Anyway I think that's all from me for now, stay safe.

Bye for now, Em xx
