Crochet Podcast Episode 43

{19.09.21} What I've been making in September

Hello, episode 43 of the Lulu loves crochet podcast is now up. I’m sharing some exciting new crochet books this episode along with some finished objects, WIPS a new crochet subscription box and the usual book chatter…

Lululoves Crochet Podcast Episode 43

Finished Objects:

I finally finished embroidering all the daisies on Lulu’s ‘Oopsy Daisy Bucket Hat’ which is a free tutorial by Strings Attached Crochet over on YouTube.

I spent a happy weekend making up these gorgeous toadstools/mushrooms from another free pattern. This time by Caitie from Thoresby Cottage who has the loveliest crochet blog and Instagram account. I’ve linked the pattern here. I think these would make perfect little Christmas tree ornaments!

Also sharing my Dutch Houses sample from Esme Cricks new book Mosiac Crochet - I’ve done a full review in this post.

WIPs:

I’ve resurrected my mini square blanket and am hoping to get it finished in time for Christmas. Blanket season is definitely approaching here, despite the sun choosing to shine for most of September so far!

New Items:

Lindsey from Lottie and Albert very kindly sent over one of her Curate Crochet boxes for me to have a look at. This one features a gorgeous pattern and yarn to make a Pumpkin Spice cushion, which cleverly uses Solomon’s knot stitch to create a lovely modern cushion. The kits are beautifully designed and come with everything you need to create the month's pattern and even include some extra treats. Lindsey has also offered £5 off your first kit using the code: Lululoves5 so if you’re interested go and have a look at the Curate Crochet site here.

I’m also having a flick through the new Official Harry Potter crochet book, Harry Potter Crochet Wizardry by Lee Satori. I can’t believe how detailed the projects are. You definitely get a lot of book for your money with this one. There lots of garments, toys and accessories based on the films all featured amongst beautiful film photography. I would say the patterns are aimed more at the experienced crocheter, the only beginner pattern being a granny square blanket, but the photos and projects will certainly appeal to any Harry Potter fan. It's available through Amazon UK or Amazon US as well as other bookstores.

Books:

Giving my thoughts on The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave (spoiler I gave it 3.5 stars on Goodreads) available through here on Amazon UK or Amazon US

I’ve just started reading The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett which was one of the twelve books I wanted to read this year (see my other selections in this video) also available on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Don't forget to try your local library for titles too!

Anyway, I think that’s it for this month. I hope you are all keeping safe and finding some time to enjoy some crochet or reading (or whatever you love to do) – please don’t forget to ‘like’, ‘subscribe’ and ‘share’ if you enjoy the podcast, it really means so much to me.
